My Innovation Diplomacy Journey: From Tallinn to Budapest

Writer: João Pedro Locatelli CezarJoão Pedro Locatelli Cezar

Hello, everyone! This is Dr. João Pedro, pediatric hematologist and head of health at hygia saúde. Recently, I had the honor of participating in the Innovation Diplomacy Program (PDI), an experience that took me to Tallinn, Estonia, and Budapest, Hungary. I would like to share with you a bit of this incredible journey and the valuable lessons I learned.

First Stop ✈️: Tallinn, Estonia 🇪🇪

My adventure began in Tallinn, a city that breathes innovation and technology. I was welcomed into a highly digitalized environment, where I visited various technology parks and saw firsthand how the Estonian e-government operates. This experience was inspiring, as I could see how digitalization can simplify processes and increase efficiency in public administration.

I had the opportunity to visit large companies and startups, exchanging ideas with some of the world's brightest innovators. One of the most remarkable moments was my participation in Latitude59, the largest innovation and technology event in Estonia. There, I could learn about the latest trends and innovations, as well as expand my network. I also had the chance to present Hygia Saúde to an international audience, highlighting our initiatives in the health sector and receiving valuable feedback.

Second Stop ✈️: Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺

After the enriching experience in Tallinn, I headed to Budapest. The focus here was on healthtechs, an area of great interest to me and Hygia Saúde. I visited several startups and health technology companies, learning about the latest innovations transforming the sector.

The highlight of my visit to Budapest was the HealthTech Day, promoted by the Brazilian embassy. I had the honor of presenting Hygia Saúde's initiatives and sharing our innovative solutions with an international audience. It was an incredible experience, giving me a broader perspective on how technology can improve pediatric care.

Next Stop ✈️: The Future

Participating in the PDI was a transformative experience. The exchange of knowledge and exposure to new technologies and management models were extremely enriching. I return to Brazil with many innovative ideas and a renewed vision of how we can continue to advance in the health sector.

The connections I established during the program opened doors for future international partnerships, which will certainly bring significant benefits to Hygia Saúde and, most importantly, to our young patients. I am eager to apply everything I learned and share these innovations with my team and all of you.

I thank everyone who accompanied me on this journey and the Innovation Diplomacy Program for the unique opportunity. I will continue to work with dedication and passion to transform healthcare in Brazil.

Until next time!

Dr. João Pedro
